About Me
Margot Escott believes that play is essential for everyone. In 1970 she became a New Games Referee and her mission to teach folks to play and laugh has continued.
She’s worked as a Psychotherapist for over 35 years and, for the past decade, has been using improvisational theater games and exercises in her practice and workshops, both in in-person and online.
Among those she’s trained with include Aretha Sills Jay Sukow, Laura Hall, Gary Schwartz and Rich Baker. Margot leads ongoing online group called “Improv for Parkinson’s”. She and her troupe, The PIPPI Players (Parkinson's Inspired People Playing Improv) have presented multiple virtual performances.
She is a certified teacher and trainer with the Rehearsals for Growth program, who trains and prepares Therapists to apply improvisational methods to Psychotherapy.

"Margot's improv classes transformed my approach to therapy and brought joy to my practice." ~ Katie Ziskind, LMFT.
Student Reviews
★★★★★
"I have been a student of Margot's for the past 4-5 years. She teaches a combination of Improv, music and dance, drama, games and lots more for excitment. Her students range from their 20's to their '70's and interact well. Some are beginners in the Parkinson's world, while some show serious decay, but everyone participates at their level. Margot is dedicated to her work against PD and her class is a exemplar to her father, who also suffered from Parkinson's." ~ William Tobolsky, Esq. Atlantic City, New Jersey.
I have been living with Parkinson's for the last 7 years. I’ve benefited from many non-pharmaceutical therapies but not more so than Improv for Parkinson's class with Margot. I, currently take 2 different classes and look forward to them both each week. Margot is a wonderful teacher and coach. Her classes are well planned and interesting. Improv for Parkinson's has made me smile more, laugh at myself and meet many interesting and talented people. It has helped me deal with some of the anxieties Parkinson's can give us. Plus Improv helps me with my voice projection and cognitive thinking. I would highly recommend that you give it a try. ~ Suzanne Masso Retired teacher and children's book author, New Jersey.

I have been an assistant teacher and a assistant and substitute teacher at Margot’s Improv for Parkinson’s. These classes are a wonderful source of joy. Margot perfectly designs her sessions while maintaining a profound balance between playfulness and evolving lesson plans. The spirited involvement of each participant is very inspiring and that makes the environment thoroughly lovable. It feels like the 2 hours shall stay for many more minutes to let the sessions continue. ~ Vishok Verma, Improv Teacher, India.

Each week I look forward to participating in PD IMPROV. There is lots of social interaction and learning to really listening to each other. Imagination and thinking “outside the box “ is encouraged. I leave class feeling alert and uplifted, No matter what your PD symptoms may be I would encourage you to consider PD IMPROV. ~ Robyn Perlow, MD - Arizon.

I'm an improv performer with Parkinson's, questioning how long I can continue to perform in front of a live audience. Luckily, I have found a class with other PD improvisors where I can shake, stammer and blank out to my heart's content. Every week, Margot Escott uses her extensive improv-teaching background to create an amazing class that sharpens our wit, spontaneity, and overall cognitive abilities. And most important: IT'S FUN. I'm eternally grateful to Margot. ~ Lloyd Leifer, California.

Improv class has given me confidence. Margot is a skilled professional therapist and group facilitator with an awesome sense of humor. In class, she encourages you to be brave in your choices. Margot makes you laugh, and helps you to relocate those creative thinking caps that have been hidden since childhood. I look forward to Improv class every week! ~ Linda Silver, Graphic Designer, New Jersey.

I have known Margot Escott for several years and have attended several of her Improv Classes. She sees the potential ability of her students which results in a wonderful outcome for playing games and/or scenes. She encourages confidence to perform to our best ability and won't let her students become discouraged. She may say ok but now try something to push yourself further. Margot is a fabulous teacher/mentor. She is kind in her attention throughout. I can't recommend her enough. She is a real expert and experimenter with a spirit that makes others want to follow her. ~ Donna Breger Stanton, OTD, OT, FAOTA , San Francisco, California.
